The iCloud Drive first came along with the iOS 10 a while ago. The drive allows users to keep their important documents and data stored and this drive has basically the same features and function with any other similar cloud based services like Google Drive or Dropbox. However, the iCloud Drive is still not as capable and as versatile as the other cloud based services.
Up to this point, in case you wanted to access any file that is stored in the iCloud drive on your iPad or iPhone you could’ve do it only with supported apps such as Document 5 or Good reader. And because there was no complete app for iCloud drive that could’ve enabled you to manage your data, the users were required to download compatible third party apps to get the job done. The entire procedure with file management in iCloud Drive honestly was highly annoying in iOS 10.
But, now with the introduction of the new iOS 10, the iCloud drive has got the role of standalone app. This means that the users are no longer required to rely on third party apps to access the files that they have stored in the iCloud Drive. Normally, the iCloud Drive app is hidden in the iOS 10 settings. However, it is simple to unhide it if you want to use the full-fledged app.
Instructions to enable or disable the iCloud drive app
All the iOS 10 users can enable/disable the iCloud Drive app. Just follow these instructions:
- Open the Settings app on your iDevice
- Tap on iCloud
- Login using your iCloud account (in case you are not already logged in)
- Tap on iCloud Drive
- Press on “Show on Home Screen” to turn it ON
- And that’s it, the job is done
In case you no longer want to use the app and you do not want it on your Home screen, just repeat the instructions above and turn off “Shown on Home Screen” switch to hide it.
At this moment, the cloud service in iOS 10 still does not have a lot of useful features. Hopefully in the future Apple will improve it and will add a lot more functions and user friendly features.
